Residents of Sandia Heights are encouraged to establish trusted relationships with neighbors for enhanced security in the community. The Sandia Heights Security Patrol provides a visible deterrent to crime, responds to various calls including residential alarms and suspicious activities, and offers services such as special watches for residents away from home. It's advised to contact 911 in case of criminal activity or harm to a person, and to be aware of phone numbers for emergency and non-emergency needs. Creating a Neighborhood Watch, especially focusing on daytime burglaries, is suggested to foster a safer environment. The newsletter also discusses the inclusion of email addresses in the Resident Guide and Directory, seeking feedback from residents on their preference regarding this matter.

The Architectural Control Committee (ACC) Chairman, Bob Bower, discusses the importance of the ACC's Neighborhood Review (NR) process in evaluating projects within the community. The NR serves as a way to inform neighbors of proposed projects and gather feedback to enhance projects from a neighborhood perspective. The process involves sending notification letters, collecting comments from neighbors, addressing feedback with applicants, and incorporating relevant comments into final approval decisions.

In addition to the ACC's NR process, the newsletter also features community event bulletins. These include opportunities such as joining the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center Orchestra, attending worship services at St. Chad's Episcopal Church, participating in the Sandia Heights "Cork & Fork" dining activity, and joining the New Mexico Symphonic Youth Chorus. The bulletin board provides information on various activities and groups in the community, encouraging residents to engage with different opportunities.
