The March 2020 newsletter from the Sandia Heights Homeowners Association (SHHA) provides a detailed summary of the reports presented at the SHHA Annual Meeting held in February. The newsletter includes reports and updates from various Board Officers and Committee Chairs, highlighting their activities and accomplishments in 2019. Specific sections detail the roles and achievements of the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, along with key committees like the Architectural Control Committee (ACC), Finance Committee, and Communications & Publications Committee (C&P). The newsletter also covers financial updates, budget projections for 2020, and internal reviews conducted by the Finance Committee to ensure financial procedures are followed efficiently. Additionally, reports from standing committees such as Community Service & Membership (CS&M) and Covenant Support Committee (CSC) outline their activities and initiatives in improving member benefits and increasing membership.
Susan Seligman has resigned from her position. Sandia Heights has over 38 sets of Covenants, each applying to a designated unit within the community, enforced by the CSC through a formalized process, with limitations on addressing some current issues due to the age of some covenants. The CSC meets monthly to address homeowner inquiries and complaints, with an emphasis on maintaining confidentiality and adhering to existing covenants, allowing only specific unit homeowners to change them as needed. In terms of approved projects, the ACC has managed various property upgrades and changes such as remodels, landscaping, roofing, and installations, with detailed logs available on the Sandia Heights Homeowners Association website.
Events and activities for residents include a "Crime Risk Management Seminar," an update on the Parks & Safety Committee's activities, and a community dining activity called "Cork & Fork." The association has focused on managing crime risks through education and community involvement, including efforts to address fire risks and promote safety. St. Chad's Episcopal Church also offers various activities open to the community, such as musical performances and Lenten opportunities.
