The Sandia Heights Homeowners Association (SHHA) will be hosting its annual meeting on June 5, 2004, where outgoing officers and committee heads will provide updates, new board members will be elected, and pre-elected officers for the upcoming year will be introduced. The association has recently focused on establishing new bylaws and committee charters to streamline governance, and a new park at Cedar Hill has been approved in honor of W.L. Jackson, a significant figure in the community. Efforts are also underway to propose a unified set of covenants for adoption, aiming to simplify administration and enforcement within the community. Keywords: annual meeting, bylaws, committee charters, Cedar Hill Park, W.L. Jackson, unified covenants.
Residents of Sandia Heights have been advocating for speed humps on Tramway Lane to control speeding, particularly due to safety concerns for pedestrians, including children. However, the Bernalillo County Fire Department has opposed the installation of these safety features, leading to ongoing discussions between the SHHA and the Fire Marshal for a mutually agreeable solution. Additionally, there have been announcements about the replacement of equipment at Little Cloud Park and nominations for new Board of Directors (BOD) members for the upcoming term. Keywords: speed humps, Bernalillo County Fire Department, pedestrian safety, Little Cloud Park, Board of Directors nominations.
